Local community honoring Air Force veteran who passed away from COVID-19


The father of three died on the day before his wedding.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The life of Lt. DeMarcus Dunn is going to be celebrated at the Bethany World Prayer Center on Friday, August 20.

Lt. Dunn recently passed away from COVID-19.

Lieutenant Dunn’s vehicle was adorned with items of remembrance, such as cards, balloons and teddy bears, from fellow officers, employees of the Baker Police Department, City of Baker and others whose lives were touched by him. 

The 36-year-old man was a Lieutenant with the Baker Police Department.

Dunn also served in the Air Force.

Lt. Dunn was a father of three who loved to coach football and softball. 

Visitation is from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. on August 20 and the Celebration Service is scheduled to begin soon after. 

Lt. Dunn will be buried at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary.
