BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A former member of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, US Army Veteran and community activist is going to be celebrated on Friday morning.
Bogalusa native, Captain Leroy Burton passed away on Friday, September 3.
On Friday, September 24, a motorcade procession is happening for Leroy Burton.
That motorcade will take Captain Burton to his final resting place.
Captain Burton is going to be interred at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary.

Leroy Burton a native of Bogalusa, LA and resident of Baker, LA returned to his heavenly home on Friday September 3, 2021 after a courageous battle with a brief illness. Leroy retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2011. He is survived by his loving children son, Lee (Jerri) Burton; daughters, Leah Burton, Faith Burton; grandchildren, Keith Burton, Ishmael Burton and Ariel Burton; sister, Cherry Burton; brothers, Freiler (Verlie) Burton and John (Denise) Burton. Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosena Burton and his late son, DeVinn Burton. Homegoing Services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at Hall Davis & Son, 9348 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70807. Visitation on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Internment will take place immediately following the services at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mt. Pleasant, Zachary, LA 70791.
