BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- If you’re big on watching TV, this fall season you may be spending a lot of time in front of a screen either binging a new Netflix series or catching up on the latest episode of House of the Dragon.
Experts Brennan Stokes and Raegan Griffin, Flexologists from StretchLab Towne Center in Baton Rouge, said that sitting on the couch can lead to back pain and tightness in other parts of the body. Sitting down for long periods of time may not always be good for you, fortunately, there are stretches that will help engage the body to increase your heart rate, circulation, and range of motion.
Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, Stokes says we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight, then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way.
Some of the stretches you can do while binge-watching this fall include:
- Seated Figure Four Stretch
- Lateral Neck Stretch
- Seated Hamstring Stretch
- Cross-Body Shoulder Stretch
