WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) – Chief James Wascom currently leads Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4.

Fighting fires must be a family tradition as his father “was a dedicated volunteer and Station Chief in the 70s and 80s,” according to Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4.

With that in mind, the local fire department is saying goodbye to Mr. Jesse T. Wascom.

The former head of Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 and father of the current chief passed away at the age of 79.

Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 posted this message on their Facebook page in memory of their former chief:

Thank you for your service and dedication to the community and also instilling the same passion and dedication to our chief that has led to the present professional that he is today. We are forever in your debt and we shall ensure your name and dedication will never be forgotten.
