BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire early Thursday morning.
“Firefighters were returning from a call in the area when they noticed smoke coming from the exhaust system of the building,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
The building in question is Brew-Bacher’s Grill located at 5580 Government St.
BRFD says firefighters arrived a little before 1:55 a.m. and “made entry through the front window and were able to stop the fire before it could spread to the dining area.”
The fire took almost 40 minutes to put out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
The structure sustained $400,000 in damages.
EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Police Department at the scene.
Fire investigators are still working to figure out what started the blaze.
