Local home a ‘total loss’ after arson


BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a vacant house fire early Sunday morning.

Firefighters arrived at 1526 Myrtle Walk St. a little before 1:40 a.m.

BRPD says that upon arrival, firefighters found “the house fully engulfed in flames.”

With the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in less than 15 minutes.

The home sustained $50,000 in damages and fire investigators determined the structure to be a ‘total loss.’

BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
