BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Hurricane season is almost two months old and one local hospital is trying to help the United Cajun Navy in preparation for future storms in the area.
Baton Rouge General is hosting a clothing drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on these dates:
- July 22 at Mid City – drop-offs will be in front of the Main Entrance, at 3600 Florida Blvd.
- July 23 at Bluebonnet – drop-offs will be in front of Entrance 3, off Picardy Ave.
The hospital is asking for the public to give gently used clothing and or shoes.
“Louisianians understand what it is like to recover from major weather events, and we know the important role the United Cajun Navy plays in the recovery process,” said Erik Showalter, president of the Baton Rouge General Foundation. “The United Cajun Navy has been so generous providing PPE and food, and hosting fundraisers, for our hospital last year, so we’re proud to be able to lend them a hand.”
If you are able to give, please make sure that everything is clean and inside a closed garbage bag.
Baton Rouge General stated that donations will be given out to those in need “during post-hurricane recoveries.”
