Local hospital sees large increase in number of COVID-19 patients

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – In one week, Baton Rouge General has gone from 13 COVID-19 patients to 35.

According to the local hospital, “that’s an 169% increase in one week.”

Louisiana is slowly closing in on 500,000 COVID-19 cases in the state.

LDH reports 1,600 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours.

“The statewide average daily number of cases per 100,000 residents has increased 177% over the past 14 days,” according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

30% of the COVID-19 patients inside Baton Rouge General are in the ICU.
