BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – An 18-year-old man is behind bars in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of N. Fuller Place over the weekend.
Authorities were called to the residence located at the address stated above around 6 p.m. on Independence Day.
Deputies were notified about a shooting and upon arrival found a dead man in the residence.
EBRSO says, “a deceased male who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to the head area was located in a bedroom of the residence.”
Authorities also found an assault style rifle, marijuana stems and bongs.
The bedroom in question belonged to the suspect in this case.
Belle admitted that the shooting victim had come over to his residence to eat BBQ.
After eating BBQ and drinking some alcohol, Belle proceeded to show the assault style rifle to the victim.
Belle stated that he took the assault style rifle apart and put it back together and then loaded a bullet into the weapon.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, “the accused said while the rifle was pointed at the victim, he pulled the trigger, striking the victim, causing his death.”
When asked why he used the weapon, Belle said, “I just wasn’t thinking.”
Janosch Joshua Belle is facing one count of Negligent Homicide and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Belle was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on Monday, July 6.
