Local man charged with Second Degree Murder after allegedly shooting up a vehicle and house

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting around 6 a.m. on August 6.

Deputies arrived at West 6th St. and an investigation led investigators to the suspect, 35-year-old Irvin Jones IV.

Jones IV was allegedly involved in a short skirmish and threatened to kill someone.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, “A short time later shots rang out and struck the victim’s vehicle and the exterior of the victim’s residence.”

This led to a search for the suspect and Jones IV was found nearby.

Jones IV was arrested and is facing these charges:

  • Attempted Second-Degree Murder
  • Illegal Use of Weapons
  • Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property

The 35-year-old man is in the Ascension Parish Jail.
