ZACHARY, La. (BRPROUD) – The Louisiana State Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that killed a Wakefield man on Saturday.

According to the state police, troopers were called to the intersection of US 61 and LA 64 in Zachary and learned that a 2018 Toyota Tundra driven by Edward Poray Frank of Port Allen was speeding on U.S. 61.

Troopers say that at the same time, a 2013 Nissan Maxima driven by  23-year-old John Anthony Daniels was at a red light behind a 2008 Toyota Prius when the Tundra hit the back of Daniels’ car which forced an impact between the Tundra and the Maxima.

Daniels was wearing his seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene. Frank wore a seatbelt but was taken to the hospital due to his injuries. The driver of the Prius was also injured and sent to the hospital.

LSP says impairment is unknown, but any criminal or traffic violations discovered in the investigation will be forwarded to the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office.
