BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Shortly before noon on Tuesday, officers responded to a reported shooting involving a Baton Rouge fire investigator on Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive.

According to Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD), the fire investigator was on duty and was not injured. The victim that was shot was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD), the victim was allegedly shot by the fire investigator during an attempted vehicle break-in and is expected to survive.

BRFD said they are fully cooperating with police and the fire investigator involved has been placed on administrative leave for the duration of the investigation.

The shooting is under investigation by BRPD.
