BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD – One person needed medical attention after their house filled with smoke on Lorraine Street early Sunday morning.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to the fire in the 2700 block of Lorraine Street around 12:40 a.m. but not did see a visible fire. Firefighters entered the home and found light smoke on the first floor. They found heavy smoke on the second floor and a small fire in a corner of a bedroom on the second floor.
The fire was contained in the area where it started, but the room was damaged due to the water. The entire home was heavily damaged by smoke.
The four people living in the building were outside when the fire department arrived. Emergency services treated one person for smoke inhalation. The fire was controlled at 1:01 a.m.
