PLATTENVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was asked to investigate a reported vehicle theft on Friday, August 23.

A car was allegedly taken from a business in Plattenville.

APSO interviewed the victim and “deputies learned that while the victim was inside the establishment, her vehicle was stolen,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation ensued including a search for the car.

The car was subsequently located in Bertrandville.

As the investigation unfolded, detectives concluded that the suspect in this car theft was a 15-year-old from Napoleonville.

“Detectives filed a verified complaint charging the suspect with multiple offenses,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Before being captured, the teenager led members of the Louisiana State Police on a chase.

The chase took place in Prairieville.

The 15-year-old was eventually apprehended and charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Simple Burglary

The teenager is currently in the custody of the Louisiana State Police.
