16-year-old suspect expected in court for alleged involvement in fatal shooting

One of two 16-year-old suspects is said to have his day in court in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jevon Brown.

brown was shot in the stomach on his way home from school on Ottawa Dr. Monday after he got off the bus and later died at the hospital.

The unidentified 16-year-old along with brothers Jeffery Tate, 16, and Davaughn Tate, 18, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Wednesday after turning themselves into authorities.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore said a judge found probable cause to charge Jeffrey as an adult.

The hearing for the unidentified 16-year-old is expected to talk place at the 19th Judicial Courthouse downtown Friday morning.
