TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A stolen Mississippi police unit led authorities on a high-speed chase reaching 130 miles per hour.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) said at 9:30 p.m. Monday night they were notified of a stolen McComb police unit headed into the parish on I-55.

Spike strips were placed at the Wardline exit to stop the suspect’s vehicle before reaching I-12, according to TPSO Chief Jimmy Travis. Once they crashed, the suspect attempted to flee.

The suspect was apprehended by K-9 and identified as a 17-year-old juvenile.

Louisiana State Police and Hammond Police Department assisted in the incident.
