18-year-old arrested in connection to Southern University shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Authorities have arrested an 18-year-old in connection to a shooting on Southern University’s campus.

On Oct. 15, Brysen Keys was seen on Southern University’s surveillance carrying a firearm in the parking lot of Camille Shade Hall and S. V. Totty Hall, according to an affidavit. A shooting incident took place, resulting in three individuals sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The affidavit states that one of the injured was identified as Keys.

Keys faces charges of one count of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon by a nonstudent on school property, or a in a firearm-free zone.
