PIERRE PART, La. (BRPROUD) – The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was asked to investigate a reported car theft earlier this year.
The investigation ended with the arrest of Jamyre Armondre Mitchell, 19, of Thibodaux.
APSO said, “On April 20, 2022, deputies responded to a call from a residence on Mam and Pap Drive in Pierre Part in reference to a stolen car.”
The car theft victim then detailed who was present prior to the vehicle being taken from the home.
The victim said “that an acquaintance had invited several individuals over, one of those persons being Jamyre Armondre Mitchell,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
As the investigation unfolded, Mitchell was found to be a primary suspect in this case.
A search for the suspect ensued and the stolen vehicle was retrieved by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Five months after this incident, Mitchell was taken into custody.
APSO said that the Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Mitchell on Sunday, September 25.
Mitchell was then charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
The 19-year-old remains behind bars in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
