TERREBONNE PARISH, La (BRPROUD) — Louisiana State Troopers responded to a call on May 187 regarding a crash involving a bicyclist on LA Hwy 660 around 5 p.m.

During the investigation, deputies revealed that 21-year-old Colby Prestenback was riding a bike south on the northbound shoulder of Louisiana Hwy 660 approaching the intersection at Bayou Gardens Boulevard.

As Prestenback approached the intersection, a 2006 Ford F-150 traveling east approached at the same time. Prestenback failed to stop for a red traffic signal and was struck by the F-150, who had a green traffic signal.

Deputies say Prestenback was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.

On May 22, the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed that Prestenback died due to his injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
