BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A new bookstore will be opening soon in Baton Rouge.

2nd and Charles, a subsidiary of Books a Million, carries a variety of books, CDs, DVDs, video games, and more.

General Manager Mia Otilli says the bookstore also carries action figures, vinyl records, and any entertainment media.

“We’ve got everything from tarot cards and rune boxes to gift items,” Otilli said. “Right now I’m looking at a cat-shaped pizza cutter.”

Otilli said what makes 2nd and Charles different from other bookstores is that it is a used bookstore.

“So the things that people bring in to us is what determines what we have in the store,” Ottilli said.

The buy-back program is simple. People can bring in whatever they want to trade and place it in the bins that are located in the front of the store. Employees would get identification from them and then process their orders. They are then offered cash or store credit.

The Baton Rouge location will be the fourth in Louisiana. Other locations include Bossier City, Covington and Houma.

The name is a mix of “second” from the term “second-hand,” and Charles Anderson which is the founder’s father.

The book store is currently open at 3535 Perkins Road Suite E1, but its grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4.

2nd and Charles is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sundays, the bookstore is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
