BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- East Baton Rouge Parish School System announced four additional schools have transitioned to virtual learning after several positive COVID-19 cases on the campuses effective Jan. 11.

The schools are:

  • Audubon Elementary School
  • Bernard Terrace Elementary School
  • LaSalle Elementary School
  • Dufrocq Elementary School

“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the families impacted by the virus. We care about our staff’s and students’ health during these times. We are not taking these decisions lightly as we prioritize the health of everyone in the parish. We encourage all staff and students to do their part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19,” stated School Superintendent Sito Narcisse, Ed. D.  

During this period of remote learning, the impacted classrooms will be closed for deep cleaning and students will receive instruction through Google Classroom. The district will continue to consult with Health Centers in Schools, the Louisiana Department of Health, and other local officials for additional guidance.

The students will return to in-person learning on Jan. 18. Students attending Dufrocq Elementary School will return on Jan. 13.
