500 Baton Rouge families receive toys during holiday drive thru giveaway

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- Councilman Lamont Cole did his part of spreading holiday joy with his annual Christmas giveaway on Dec. 20.

Cole and volunteers provided toys including bikes and scooters through a drive-thru giveaway. Locals also received a Christmas box with snacks, toys and a Walmart gift card.

“Pray. Be hopeful,” Cole said. “I know times are tough right now, but better days are coming.”

Cole’s annual giveaway was originally a breakfast and toy shopping opportunity for kids. He says a global pandemic was not going to stop him from giving back.

“Our darkest hours have always been followed by our finest days,” he said.

500 Christmas boxes were given away.

The event was hosted at the MLK Community Center.
