BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A 55-year-old man has been arrested by East Baton Rouge authorities in connection to the homicide of a West Feliciana Parish man.

The suspect has been identified as John Anthony Janik of Baton Rouge. West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office (WFPSO) said Janik will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a second-degree murder charge before being transported to West Feliciana Parish.

“I can’t say enough about our investigators and the job they did solving this case” said Sheriff Brian Spillman. “Their tenacity and diligence, along with expert assistance from the East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police, was instrumental in helping bring closure to the victim’s family.”

According to WFPSO, West Feliciana Parish resident Richard Craig Martin was found dead near his home on August 14, 2021, and an autopsy determined the cause of death as a homicide.
