BRIDGE CITY, La. (BRPROUD) –
A little over 15 hours after escaping the Bridge City Center for Youth, the sixth and final missing juvenile was apprehended by the Louisiana State Police and New Orleans Police Department.
The 17-year-old was captured after a chase involving an LSP unit and helicopter.
According to the Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice, “The juvenile stole two vehicles, and injured one person during the exchange.”
The person who sustained injuries was taken to a hospital.
The 17-year-old is facing these charges:
- Simple Escape
- Aggravated Escape
- Simple Robbery
- Battery of a Correctional Facility Employee
- Simple Kidnapping
- False Imprisonment
Six Bridge City Center for Youth (BCCY) juveniles escaped Sunday morning but one is still at large.
The six juveniles escaped at 2:30 a.m. but five were caught around 6 a.m. One juvenile, a 17-year-old from Orleans Parish, is missing.
The Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) says it can’t release information about the youth publicly due to the confidential nature of the juvenile’s records. OJJ has released full information to law enforcement to help in the search. The juvenile was entered into the National Crime Information Center database, according to OJJ.
