NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — Actor Kevin James will portray New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton in a Netflix movie entitled “Home Team.”

Peter King with NBC Sports broke the news about the casting in his weekly “Football Morning in America” column.

The film will center on the 2012 NFL season when Payton was suspended by the NFL for the bounty scandal involving the Saints. During his time away from professional football Payton served as an assistant coach for his son’s sixth grade football team and gained more perspective on his life and the sport.

“Filming of the movie begins this year. Payton read the script recently, made some corrections, and here it comes. My one thought about casting: James is going to need to lose a few pounds to play Payton,” writes King.

The film is being produced by Happy Madison Productions, which is the company owned by actor Adam Sandler. According to King, filming will start this year.
