The American Heart Association is making sure all students learn CPR through it’s CPR kits program.
Officials with the American Heart Association say cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the U.S.
When CPR is immediately preformed, a victim’s survival rate can double or even triple.
Officials say cardic arrest can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone.
Back in 2014, the Louisiana Legislature passed the Burke Cobb Act. This requires all Louisiana graduating seniors to receive hands-only CPR instruction.
Since the law went into effect, the American Heart Association has been working with the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Louisiana to help provide local schools with CPR kits and teach students hands-only CPR.
