ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Alligator Bayou Road is set to reopen on Monday, Aug. 29, parish officials said in a construction update Friday.
The roadway will be open at 10 a.m. Monday.
In other construction updates, parish officials said Fish Bayou Flood Control is almost complete and operational. They warn drivers traveling that they may be turned around while fieldwork is being done on Monday morning.
The flood control structure will reduce flood duration in the Bluff Swamp/Spanish Lake basin, according to Ascension Parish Government. The project cost $3.5 million, with funding coming from the Pontchartrain Levee Board and the East Ascension Drainage Board.
“Working together with our neighbors in Iberville parish, we have improved this area for our residents. Where once, they have worried about flood waters overtaking the levee, we now have a new mechanism in place to abate the waters,“ said Parish President Clint Cointment.
