Celebrate National Hydration Day this weekend!
Sunday, June 23 is National Hydration Day and The American Heart Association is encouraging you to participate and stay healthy.
Hydration is important because it puts less stress on your heart.
According to the American Heart Association, if you’re well hydrated, your heart doesn’t have to work as hard.
AHA said staying hydrated helps the heart more easily pump blood through the blood vessels to the muscles.
Ochsner Baton Rouge Pediatrician Dr. Dionna Mathews said thirst isn’t the best indicator of dehydration. She said if you get thirsty, it means you’re already dehydrated.
Mathews also said water is the healthiest and best option to hydrate the body.
