BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Louisiana appeals court says a district court judge abused his discretion when he granted bond for a convicted killer.

Meshell Hale was convicted in December and sentenced to life in prison for killing Damian Skipper in 2015 by Judge Raymond Bigelow.

In a written ruling vacating the $300,000 bond, the appeals court wrote that the “district court abused its discretion by setting post-conviction bond in the same amount the court set for pretrial bond.”
