Gonzales man arrested on second-degree murder charge

GONZALES, LA (NBC LOCAL 33)(FOX 44) - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Unit has arrested a man in connection with a murder that happened last night.

31-year-old Reese Plaisance has been charged with second-degree murder and illegal carrying of weapons.

Shortly after midnight, May 17, deputies received a call that someone was shot on Denham Road in Gonzales. Deputies arrived on scene to learn that one male subject had  been stabbed in the chest.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short while later. As the investigation unfolded, it was learned that Plaisance attacked the victim for unknown reasons and stabbed him in the chest area.

Plaisance was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail where no bond has been set yet.
