PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about a reported shooting around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Upon arrival, deputies were able to confirm that a shooting involving two people took place outside of a business.
That business is located on Airline Hwy.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that an employee, identified as James Sims of Baton Rouge, and an acquaintance, identified as Justin Boudreaux, 29, of Raceland, got into a verbal altercation, which led to the subjects exchanging gunfire outside of the restaurant,” according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The Raceland man sustained non-life threatening injuries and was arrested after his release from a local hospital.
Boudreaux is currently behind bars in the Ascension Parish Jail.
APSO says the 29-year-old is charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and disturbing the peace.
Deputies are actively searching for James Sims.
