Arbor Day is a national holiday, which celebrates planting trees.
4th graders at Baton Rouge Center for Visual & Performing Arts did just that, planting eight trees on their school’s campus.
The children got some help from Baton Rouge Green and volunteer parents.
Some students shared with us why trees are so important.
“And we planted them because they provide shade and oxygen.”
“These trees will have berries on them and like butterflies and birds can come eat the berries.”
“I think it will really brighten the school’s campus and make it look more beautiful.
This year, Louisiana’s Arbor Day is on Friday.
