The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District will hold a press conference Thursday to discuss the possibility of opening the Bonnet Carre Spillway again.

The press conference will cover flood-fighting efforts already in progress along the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers, and discuss the potential operation of Bonnet Carré Spillway.

The bays were closed April 11 after being opened in February to divert water from the swollen Mississippi River.

The river is currently at 16.76 feet.
