BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — SURPRISE! A combat-wounded war veteran was given a brand-new Chevrolet during the LSU/Samford baseball game Friday evening.
Chevrolet and Military Warriors Support Foundation teamed up to gift retired United States Army Sergeant Corey Jenkins a brand-new, payment-free Chevrolet Traverse.
Jenkins is considered a “Chevrolet Everyday Hero” for his determination to fight for this country. According to the foundation, he traveled the world, experience hardships, and received many medals for his bravery and service.
“It caught me off guard, it looked like something my family would do,” said Jenkins. “It was more overwhelming than anything because I’ve been in situations similar to this and I’m just grateful and didn’t expect this, I just expected to come through the pitch and enjoy myself.”
The surprise happened after the first ceremonial pitch.
The Military Warriors Support Foundation is an organization that assists wounded veterans get the resources they need.
“Our organization has been providing homes, as well as vehicles to combat wounded veterans and gold stars throughout the country for the last 10 years,” said Sandra Ignaszewski, Military Warriors Support Foundation.
