BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Ascension Parish will have an aerial mosquito spray Saturday, Sept. 25 depending on the weather.
Ascension Parish Mosquito Control has partnered with the State of Louisiana, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, FEMA, and Vector Disease Control International for an emergency mosquito aerial spray for the parish.
“Mosquitoes are always worse after storms,” said Parish President Clint Cointment. “Aerial spraying allows us to treat larger areas of the parish in as short a time as possible.”
Flights begin at dusk and will last several hours.
Residents should be aware of a low-flying aircraft. This is the second aerial spray that has been scheduled for Ascension Parish.
Although the insecticide is EPA approved, the parish recommends covering any beehives. The insecticide is non-toxic to humans, animals and plants.
