GONZALES, La (BRPROUD) – Ascension Parish Government will host a community event on Saturday as a part of the statewide litter removal effort that started on April 18.

Ascension Parish’s Trash Bash will be from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday as part of Love the Boot Week. Volunteers will be working the areas of Highway 30, Highway 42, Highway 431, and Highways 3089 to Highway 1 in Donaldsonville.

Groups will begin by meeting at the following locations at 8 a.m. Saturday morning:

  • Lamar Dixon Expo Center on Highway 30 in Gonzales
  • Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Substation at Highway 42 in Prairieville
  • Department of Public Works East at Highway 431 in Gonzales
  • Department of Public Works at Highway 3089 to Highway 1 in Donaldsonville

Love the Boot Week, created by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, coincides with Earth Day and encourages residents to plan or participate in community cleanups and beautification events to work toward a cleaner state. Love the Boot Week is from April 18 to April 24.
