GEISMAR, La. (BRPROUD) — An investigation by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office into the potential distribution of illegal drugs ended with the arrest of a man.

Reggie Holland, 54, of Geismar was arrested on Monday, Oct. 9. An investigation started after detectives learned about possible illegal drug activity at his home, according to the sheriff’s office.

APSO investigators saw Holland driving away from his home and initiated a traffic stop. Detectives reportedly found drugs and a gun. According to APSO, deputies found 55 grams of heroin mixed with fentanyl, 82 grams of cocaine and a handgun.

Investigators said Holland had active warrants for charges of sexual battery and simple battery.

Holland was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and charged with possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, illegal carrying of weapons, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, two counts of sexual battery and simple battery.

An investigation remains ongoing.
