GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office says a teen wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that took the life of a 15-year-old girl is now in custody.
Deputies arrested Jaquin Stephens, 16, of Gonzales, who is charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. The sheriff’s office said he was found at a Livingston Parish home.
Gracie Limas, the victim, and Stephens were dating when Stephens got jealous and reportedly shot her. The search for Stephens began after deputies found a body at a home on Bourque Road after 11:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4.
APSO believes Stephens to be “armed and dangerous.”
In a joint statement, East Ascension High School Principal Lauren Avery and APPLe Digital Academy Principal Harry Wright said Limas was a rising junior.
