BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A former Ascension Parish deputy pleaded guilty to a child porn charge.
Todd Tripp, 35, of Sorrento was convicted after using an instant messaging app to get child pornography, including 15 images, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
In 2020, APSO got a report about a registered sex offender, identified as Tripp, contacting a 16-year-old boy living in another parish. Investigators said Tripp met the victim on an online dating website under a fake name.
The sheriff’s office said Tripp and the boy met at least three times and engaged in sexual activity.
He was arrested in South Carolina and charged with three counts carnal knowledge of a juvenile, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and unlawful use or access of social media.
The sheriff’s office said Tripp had worked for APSO for 18 months in 2013 before he was fired and arrested on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile, possession of child pornography, 304 counts of child pornography and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
