PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — Two residents in Prairieville are raising money to send to their families in Hawaii after recent wildfires in Lahaina.

The GoFundMe page says John Mishima and Kylie Wahinehookae are from Lahaina, which is in Maui, Hawaii.

“Our families, like many in our community, lost everything but the clothes on their backs and their faith in the Lord. We humbly ask for monetary donations to support our families as they navigate through this difficult time,” Mishima and Wahinehookae said.

Hawaii’s governor said about 500 people have moved into hotels for temporary housing after the fires.

As of Tuesday afternoon, $4,920 have been raised of the GoFundMe’s $100,000 goal. Click here to make a donation.
