ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Bobby Webre remains as Sheriff in Ascension Parish as residents voted for council members.

Across Louisiana, voters cast ballots for the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer in the Saturday, Oct. 14 primary.

Ascension Parish also voted on their parish president and council members.

Clint Cointment is the parish president in complete but unofficial results. He took 72% of the vote over Murphy Painter, Sr., Independent, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State website.

Bobby Webre keeps the Sheriff’s seat with 87% of the vote in complete but unofficial results on the Louisiana Secretary of State website.

Oliver Joseph, Brett Arceneaux, Michael “Todd” Varnado, Brian Hillensbeck, Blaine Petite, Pamela “Pam” Alonso, Dennis Cullen, and Michael Mason were elected as council members in Ascension Parish.

Mark “Meme Guy” Belgard Jr., No party, withdrew from the parish president race prior to Oct. 14.

“Chris” Schwing, Independent, withdrew from the the Council Member, District 10 race prior to Oct. 14.

The general election will be on Nov. 18. Early voting is set for 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 3-11 (excluding Sunday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 10 in honor of Veteran’s Day). Learn where you can cast early ballots here.

  • Clerk of Court: Bridget Hanna, Republican.
  • Assessor: M.J. “Mert” Smiley Jr., Republican.
  • Coroner: Christopher Trevino, Republican.
  • Council Member District 2: Joel Robert, Republican.
  • Council Member District 3: Travis Turner, Democrat.
  • Council Member District 6: Chase Melancon, Republican.
