ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — After a six-year tenure as superintendent of Ascension Public Schools, David Alexander intends to vacate his position just before the summer.
During Tuesday evening’s School Board meeting, Alexander announced that he would not be renewing his contract after June 30.
The 38-year-old educator from Ruston, La. expressed his deep appreciation for Ascension Public Schools as he announced his plans, saying, “It has been the highest honor of my professional career to serve as superintendent of this very successful school system.”
“Announcing my intentions now gives them adequate time to make a great decision for our district,” Alexander said. “In the meantime, I am excited, grateful, and passionate about making this spring semester the best it can be for our students, staff and our community.”
In the coming months, the School Board will meet with the staff and legal counsel to refine its superintendent selection process.
