Ascension Public Schools to resume learning on May 19

Local News

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Ascension Public Schools will resume learning on May 19. Plans are for schools to reopen for students to attend school in person.

District officials have been in close consultation with emergency officials and believe local drainage issues which impact roads will continue to clear overnight. There will be additional rain and amounts are hard to predict; so, if road conditions worsen and we determine they are unsafe for travel, we may switch to virtual learning for all students. Any changes will be communicated by 5:30 a.m.

We need to connect with all students tomorrow to ensure their successful completion of final assignments and exams. We look forward to reopening schools tomorrow and finishing our school year. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

As always, please monitor the district’s website, www.apsb.org, for official decisions regarding school closures.
