Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest Cut Off man on drug charges

LABADIEVILLE, La (BRPROUD) – Assumption Parish Sheriff Office announced on Thursday, Sept. 7 that a man from Cut Off, La has been arrested for drugs following an incident where part of a load fell off a trailer on LA Hwy 308 near Labadieville.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon said that a uniformed patrol officer drove up on an SUV that was pulling a loaded trailer when a part of the load fell off. An interview was given after the deputy made contact with the driver. The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle, which Falcon said was granted.

“During the search, the deputy seized quantities of methamphetamine and suboxone,” Falcon reported.

The driver, 37-year-old Lance J. Cheramie, was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of suboxone, driving under a suspended driver’s license, failure to secure load, and resisting an officer.

Cheramie remains incarcerated and has a pending bond hearing.
