NAPOLEONVILLE, La (BRPROUD) – Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Belle Rose man that was driving without a license on Thursday, Oct. 7.
Sheriff Leland Falcon said that a uniformed patrol deputy saw a vehicle make several traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop. Falcon said the deputy made contact with 33-year-old Fabian Eugene Brown, the driver when the deputy noticed an odor coming from the vehicle. The odor was suspected to be marijuana.
“The investigating deputy determined that Fabian Eugene Brown did not have a driver’s license and was a prior convicted felon,” Falcon said in a press release.
Brown was arrested and the search of his vehicle ended with the recovery of a large caliber handgun. The handgun was reported as stolen in Ascension Parish. Falcon said a “quantity of suspected marijuana” was also found and taken.
“At the time of his arrest, Fabian Eugene Brown was under two separate protective orders, therefore he could not possess firearms,” Falcon said.
Brown was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of weapons, no driver’s license, violations of a protective order and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. He is incarcerated and has a pending bond hearing.
Brown is from Belle Rose, La.
