Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest man on ‘numerous felony charges’ following shooting incident

LABADIEVILLE, La (BRPROUD) – Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) arrested a Labadieville man on “numerous felony charges” following a shooting incident on Friday.

Sheriff Leland Falcon said deputies responded to a shooting near Violet St. where APSO believed a shooting incident occurred. APSO found spent cartridges and realized a vehicle was shot at.

Earlier this week, APSO arrested two other people that were involved in this incident. 21-year-old Traci Alexis Brown from Thibodaux and 21-year-old Joshua Louper from Luling were arrested on felony drug charges.

Leland said that 24-year-old Jamal Lee Starks allegedly returned fire with other individuals and was arrested on Thursday. Starks was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal carrying of weapons, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and hit and run driving.

Starks has also been charged with failure to appear – distribution of controlled dangerous substances and third-degree rape. He is currently in jail and has a pending bond hearing.
