Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest man who stole thousands in welding equipment

BAYOU L’ROURSE, La (BRPROUD) – Assumption Parish Sherrif’s Office (APSO) announced the arrest of a Morgan City man who was arrested on five counts of simple burglary from stealing $25,000 dollars worth of welding equipment.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced that 22-year-old Kyle Bailey Bellard was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Thursday after being arrested in St. Mary Parish on July 12.

According to Leland, on July 1 APSO responded to a call from a business location and told officers that approximately $25,000 worth of welding equipment was stolen from the worksite. On July 2, Detectives identified Bellard as the person of interest. Law enforcement in St. Mary Parish requested a search warrant for his property in Morgan City and was granted one. The stolen equipment was found at the Morgan City property.

Leland said that detectives interviewed Bellard and were able to produce information to obtain a warrant for him. Leland also said that Bellard went back to the business location at least five times which resulted in five counts of burglary.

Bellard was arrested, booked, and is waiting for a bond hearing.
