Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest woman on domestic abuse charges following incident

BAYOU L’OURSE, La (BRPROUD) – Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman on felony charges following a domestic incidence in Bayou L’ourse.

Sheriff Leland Falcon says deputies responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Andras Street on Friday afternoon. He said that deputies saw 35-year-old Laura Ann Truelove and a relative struggling over a firearm and a hammer in the front yard of the residence.

“Once the situation de-escalated, deputies detained Laura Ann Truelove pending the outcome of the investigation,” Falcon said. “Deputies observed obvious signs of a violent confrontation that progressed to a struggle with several shots being fired.”

At the end of the investigation, deputies determined that Truelove’s actions were the cause of the incident. Truelove was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and illegal use of weapons, according to Leland.

Truelove remains incarcerated and is waiting for bond proceedings.
