Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office employee passes away

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of longtime employee Julie Acosta. Acosta died Friday, February 15th due to an illness. 

Acosta worked in administration and was a fully commissioned officer. She worked for the Sheriff’s Office for 18 years. 

According to her obituary, Acosta was a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of Napoleonville, an animal lover and a loving caretaker. She is survived by two daughters, one son, two sisters, one brother and three grandchildren.  

In an emailed release, Sheriff Leland Falcon stated: 

“On behalf of the entire Sheriff’s Office, we offer our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Julie’s family and friends. May they find peace at this most difficult time.” 

Acosta was 62 years old.
