BAYOU L’OURSE, La. (BRPROUD) — A traffic stop ended in the arrest of Dwayne Edward James, 38, of Mount Hermon on Monday, Oct. 30. The traffic stop took place on LA 662 in Bayou L’Ourse. The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said an equipment violation of James’ vehicle prompted the stop.

During the traffic stop, James gave false information to deputies who were on the scene. According to APSO, deputies discovered that James’ vehicle had a switched license plate.

APSO said deputies seized drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine while searching.

James was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, switched license plate, driving under a suspended driver’s license, tail lamps required, and a fugitive of Livingston Parish for simple burglary.

James remains in jail with a pending bond hearing.
